Design support tool

Urban Calculator is a design support tool, easy and user-friendly, that can be used in different phases of the design process. During the first explorative sketches feedback is given to make informed decisions, revise the design and rerun the analysis until the project’s ambitions are met. No GIS expertise is needed, because Urban Calculator runs these advanced GIS analyses at the backend of the tool. Instead, Urban Calculator focuses on visualizing and communicating results. Furthermore, no time is lost with finding and preparing data, because customized datasets are integrated in the tool.

The analysis engine at the backend of the tool is based on Space Syntax theory and the open-source GIS-based tool PST (Place Syntax Tool), developed by KTH and Chalmers, in cooperation with Spacescape AB (https://github.com/SMoG-Chalmers). https://github.com/SMoG-Chalmers
